The NetBurner Ethernet Core Module is a device containing everything needed for design engineers to add network control and to monitor a company's communications assets. For a very low price point, this module solves the problem of network-enabling devices with 10/100 Ethernet, including those requiring digital, analog and serial control.

Overview
Traditionally, companies using 8 and 16-bit platforms find it nearly impossible to run resource-intensive applications on fast Ethernet connections. The NetBurner modules feature a web-based control interface, a full 32-bit architecture and the full suite of TCP/IP protocols. The 32-bit high performance processing platform provides the horsepower to handle both 10/100 Ethernet connections and resource-demanding applications with ease and flexibility.

How to Use the Ethernet Core Module in Your Product
The module can be used as your product's core processor, or as a secondary network processor.  The core module can be easily customized to your specific application requirements using a platform specific development kit.

  • High-speed 32-bit processor for demanding applications
  • Low cost 10/100 Ethernet connectivity for fast data transfers
  • Easily create dynamic web pages in HTML, Adobe Flash, Ajax, Microsoft Silverlight or Java

How much space is required for a NetBurner application?
Programs are compressed and stored in flash memory, then downloaded and run in SDRAM. A minimal application with RTOS, TCP/IP, Web Server, Autoupdate, DHCP, will use 66k flash, 520k of SDRAM (450k for TCP buffers by default). A typical large application including the RTOS, TCP/IP, Web Server, extensive web pages, Autoupdate, DHCP, FTP, will use 125k flash and 725k of SDRAM.

Every Ethernet Core Module includes ample amounts of flash memory and SDRAM which provide plenty of space for your application. If larger amounts of non-volatile storage are required, then SD cards can be used with the included flash file system.
